Helicopter Charter

Bali Helicopter Transfer

Skip the road, skip the ferry. From Ngurah Rai (DPS) helipad to Nusa Lembongan in 12 minutes, to Lovina in 35, to Komodo in 90 (via Sumbawa). Single-engine and twin-engine charters from $1,500 USD.

Reserve Helicopter

Bali helicopter transfer is the fastest legal route between Ngurah Rai (DPS) and the islands or the north coast. A 12-minute flight to Nusa Lembongan replaces a 90-minute road-plus-ferry chain. A 35-minute flight to Lovina replaces a 4-hour drive over the central mountains. Useful when time is more valuable than money — and when the arrival itself is part of the experience.

Why charter a helicopter from DPS?

  • Time arbitrage — DPS to Lovina is 4 hours by car or 35 minutes by helicopter. For a Lovina villa stay of 4 nights, the helicopter buys back 7 hours of holiday.
  • Avoid the ferry — Sanur to Lembongan ferry can be cancelled in rough seas (March–April, October–November). Helicopter is weather-dependent but rarely cancelled outside lightning storms.
  • The view — coast of Uluwatu, rice terraces of Tabanan, Mount Agung from 6,000 ft, the reef of Lembongan from above. The flight itself is a memory.
  • Privacy — direct charter, no shared boat, no public ferry terminal.

Aircraft we charter

  • Airbus H125 Écureuil — single-engine, 5 passengers + pilot, panoramic windows, the standard Bali charter aircraft.
  • Bell 407 — single-engine, 6 passengers, slightly more cabin space, executive interior available.
  • Eurocopter AS355 Twin Squirrel — twin-engine, 5 passengers, used for over-water Komodo / Gili routes for redundancy.
  • Eurocopter EC135 — twin-engine, 6 passengers, the premium choice for VIP and longer routes.

The end-to-end charter flow

  1. T-72 hours — passenger names, weights, and ID submitted (regulatory requirement for civil aviation manifest).
  2. T-24 hours — flight plan filed with AirNav Indonesia. Weather brief reviewed.
  3. T-0 (DPS landing) — your fixed-wing flight lands. Concierge meets you airside, escort to the General Aviation Terminal at DPS (north side of the airport).
  4. T+30 minutes — board helicopter, safety brief, lift off.
  5. T+12 to 90 minutes (route-dependent) — landing at destination helipad.
  6. T+5 minutes after landing — ground transfer to villa or yacht.

Helipads at the destinations

Most premium villas in Lovina, Munduk, Lembongan, and Komodo have a helipad or designated landing zone. If your villa does not, we land at the nearest authorised helipad (Sanur, Senggigi, Labuan Bajo) and connect by car or speedboat — total combined time still beats road or ferry. Reference: the Indonesia Directorate General of Civil Aviation maintains the authorised helipad registry.

Connecting onward — yacht, villa, tour

Helicopter is most useful as the first leg of a multi-island arc: DPS → Lembongan helicopter → Komodo Luxury yacht for the islands → return helicopter → DPS for international departure. We coordinate the entire arc through one Juara Holding desk. For multi-day Komodo, see the yacht charter routes.

Weather, safety, and limits

Bali helicopter operations are limited by visibility (minimum 5 km), cloud ceiling, and wind. Lightning storms ground the fleet. The pilot makes the final call — if a flight is cancelled for weather, you receive a 100% refund or rebooking. Never push a pilot. Twin-engine aircraft are mandatory for over-water flights beyond gliding distance from shore (Komodo, Gili Air, Gili Trawangan).

FAQ

How early do I need to book?

72 hours minimum for regulatory manifest. 7 days preferred for peak season (July–August, December).

Can I take my luggage?

Yes — typical allowance is 15 kg per passenger including hand luggage. Excess luggage can be sent separately by car.

What about pets?

Small pets in carrier on lap, with sedation if recommended by vet. Coordinate at booking.

Is it safer than the ferry?

Modern twin-engine helicopters with current-rated pilots and weather minimums have an excellent safety record. The ferry to Lembongan / Penida has had several incidents in rough seas. Statistically helicopter is safer for premium travellers.

Can I land at my villa?

Only if your villa has an authorised helipad. Many in Lovina, Munduk, Komodo do. Otherwise nearest authorised landing zone + short car/boat.

What is the noise impact?

Modern aircraft (H125, EC135) are noise-managed. Pilot routes around residential areas at altitude.

Round-trip vs one-way?

Round-trip is 15% cheaper than two one-ways. Must be booked at original time.

What if weather cancels the flight?

100% refund or rebook. Never argue with a pilot’s go/no-go call.
