The escape route runs Pecatu → Ungasan → the GWK junction → downhill past Udayana University into Jimbaran, then onto Jl. Bypass Ngurah Rai for the final run to the terminal. Three things slow it down:
- The GWK junction, 16:00–19:00. Sunset traffic pouring toward Uluwatu Temple meets everyone leaving the beaches. This is the bottleneck that turns 45 minutes into 75.
- Morning school-and-commute, 07:00–09:00. Milder than the evening crush, but Pecatu and Ungasan villages add stop-start minutes before the downhill.
- Heavy rain. The low sections around Kedonganan and Jimbaran pool water in a downpour, and the whole island drives slower. In the wet season we quietly build in extra buffer when suggesting pickup times.
Sunday evenings deserve a mention of their own: beach club crowds leave the cliffs in one wave after sunset, so if you fly out Sunday night, take the earlier pickup without hesitation.
