Singaraja is not a resort strip — it is Bali’s former colonial capital and the island’s second-largest city, home to the Buleleng regency offices, the Undiksha university campus, and the old Dutch harbour front. That changes who books this route: alongside holidaymakers we regularly drive visiting families, academics, and business travellers who need a specific city address rather than a hotel lobby. Give us the full address or a Google Maps pin when you book and the driver will plan the final kilometres accordingly, including one-way streets around the old market.

The drive follows Bali’s classic north–south crossing: out of the airport, around Denpasar’s western edge, and onto the Baturiti climb where the air turns cool and the roadside stalls switch from souvenirs to strawberries. Lake Beratan and the Ulun Danu temple mark the top of the pass at Bedugul, about 90 minutes from the airport in normal traffic.

From there the road tips over the ridge at Wanagiri and drops through the Gitgit hairpins — the steepest, twistiest section of the journey, with the Gitgit twin waterfalls hidden in the ravines beside the road. Unlike the Lovina run, there is no coastal leg at the end: the hairpins deliver you almost directly into Singaraja’s southern suburbs. In heavy rain your driver may take the gentler western descent via Seririt instead; it adds around 20 minutes but avoids the steepest bends.

If you want a break, say so at pickup — most guests on this route stop once at Bedugul for the restrooms and the lake view, or grab coffee just past the Handara gate on the descent.
