When should you leave Ubud for your flight?
This is the question that actually matters on this route. The drive is 37 km and takes anywhere from 60 to 105 minutes — a wide spread, because the road out of Ubud funnels through the same corridor as Denpasar’s commuter traffic. We always plan around the slow end of the range when your flight depends on it.

Traffic Reality
Leaving Ubud, hour by hour
- 04:00–06:30 — the red-eye window. Batubulan and Tohpati are empty and the drive runs close to 60 minutes. Pickups before 05:00 carry the $5 night surcharge.
- 07:00–09:00 — school runs and commuters stack up at Batubulan and the Tohpati junction; expect the middle of the range.
- 10:00–15:00 — moderate and predictable, with slow patches where tour traffic pulls in and out around Sukawati and Mas.
- 16:00–19:00 — the bypass past Sanur is at its slowest. Assume the full 105 minutes and let us set the pickup accordingly.
- After 20:00 — roads clear quickly; late-evening drives run near the fast end. From 22:00 the $5 night rate applies.
Wet-season afternoons (November to March) add their own slowdowns between Batubulan and Sukawati, which is one more reason we pad evening departures rather than trimming them.

How pickup works across Ubud’s neighbourhoods
Ubud addresses are famously unreliable on GPS — street names repeat, and many properties sit behind temples or down walking paths. Send us your accommodation’s Google Maps pin with the booking and the rest works like this:
- Hotels in the centre — your driver pulls into the forecourt, messages you on WhatsApp when he is close, and loads the luggage himself.
- Compounds down a walking gang — we agree a lane-mouth meeting point with you or your host; the driver walks in for the bags.
- Penestanan and Campuhan ridge villas — several are stairs-only. The driver meets you at the agreed top or bottom point and carries luggage with you.

What time should I leave Ubud for an international flight?
Work backwards from departure: about 3 hours for check-in plus the drive at its worst. That means a pickup 4.5–5 hours before your flight if you would be travelling between 16:00 and 19:00, and around 4 hours at calmer times of day. For domestic flights, 3 to 4 hours before departure covers it. We confirm the exact pickup time when you send your flight number.
Is there a surcharge for early-morning or late-night pickups?
Only between 22:00 and 05:00, when a flat $5 night surcharge applies on top of the fixed fare. Outside that window the price never moves — a 06:00 pickup for a morning flight costs exactly the listed $150.
What happens if my flight changes or I need to cancel?
Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before pickup, and rescheduling is a WhatsApp message — we shift the driver to your new time. If an airline moves your departure at short notice, tell us as soon as you know and we will do our best to re-slot you even inside the 24-hour window.
Can I pay by card, or in rupiah?
Yes to both. Fares are fixed in USD; you can pay cash in USD or rupiah at the day’s rate, by Indonesian bank transfer, or by card with a 3% processing fee. There is no deposit for a standard one-way transfer.
