Bali Airport Terminal Guide

6 min read

Direct answer (50 words): Bali Ngurah Rai (DPS) airport has two terminals in 2026: T1 for domestic flights and T2 for international. Pre-booked transfer drivers wait at the official meeting point past customs in the arrival hall — for T2 it’s near Starbucks on the right; for T1 it’s at the Lobby Penjemput.

DPS Terminal Layout 2026

After the 2022 expansion, Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport operates two distinct terminals connected by a 5-minute walking corridor and free shuttle. T2 (international) handles all foreign flights — capacity 25 million passengers/year. T1 (domestic) serves Garuda, Lion, Citilink, Batik flights — capacity 9.5 million/year. Both share the same airfield but have separate arrival and departure halls.

T2 (International) — Where Most Travelers Land

T2 was completed in 2014 and refurbished in 2022. Two-story design: ground floor = arrivals, upper floor = departures.

Arrival flow: aircraft → jet bridge → escalator down → immigration (38 counters, including 12 e-Gates for eligible passports) → baggage claim (8 belts) → customs → arrival hall.

Arrival hall layout: exit customs into a 200m-wide hall. Immediately on your right are ATMs and the official taxi counter. On your left: information desk, Telkomsel kiosk, Starbucks. Straight ahead: railing where pre-booked transfer drivers stand with name signs. The exit doors lead outside to taxi pickup zone (right) and “Online Transport Zone” 400m walk (left).

Where transfer drivers wait at T2: behind the railing near Starbucks (right side of hall as you exit customs). They stand 1-2 meters from the railing holding A4-size signs with passenger name. Our drivers wear black polo shirts with “Bali Airport Transfer” logo.

T1 (Domestic) — For Inter-Island Flights

T1 is older (built 1969, refurbished 2018). One-story design: arrivals + departures on same level, separated wings. Smaller, less crowded, faster turnaround.

Arrival flow: aircraft → walk on tarmac (sometimes) or jet bridge → baggage claim (3 belts) → arrival hall.

Where transfer drivers wait at T1: “Lobby Penjemput” sign — the small open-air pickup area immediately outside baggage claim exit. Less crowded, easier to spot driver. About 30m from baggage claim doors.

Connecting Between Terminals

Free shuttle bus runs every 10 minutes between T1 and T2 (06:00-23:00). Walking takes 5-7 minutes via the connecting corridor. Drag luggage carefully — corridor has small steps. After 23:00, only walking option (well-lit, safe).

What’s Inside the Arrival Hall

T2 arrival hall amenities (24/7 most): 8 ATMs (BCA, Mandiri, BNI, BRI), 4 money changers, 6 SIM card kiosks, Starbucks, McDonald’s, KFC, Burger King, 7-Eleven, restrooms with diaper-changing tables, Mom and Baby room, prayer room (musholla), Wellness Spa Lounge (paid showers), free WiFi (1 hour, then paid), water fountains. T1 arrival hall: 3 ATMs, 2 SIM kiosks, 1 small food court, restrooms.

Common Layout Confusions

Confusion 1: Travelers exit customs and turn LEFT looking for taxi counter. Counter is RIGHT side. Save 5 min walking back.

Confusion 2: Searching arrival hall for “Online Transport” sign. The zone is OUTSIDE, 400m past parking. Inside hall, no Grab/Gojek pickup allowed.

Confusion 3: Looking for hotel shuttle inside hall. Most hotel reps wait OUTSIDE the exit doors — different desk.

Confusion 4: Connecting flight T1→T2. Allow 90 minutes minimum, even with shuttle. Customs/security re-check needed for international onward.

Departure Side at DPS

T2 Departure (upper floor): airline check-in counters, immigration, security, retail (Periplus, Polo Ralph Lauren, sunglasses, oleh-oleh), food court, lounges (Garuda, KrisFlyer, Plaza Premium, LotusLux). 4-hour visit recommended for shopping.

T1 Departure (separate wing): smaller check-in area, basic restaurants, no premium lounges.

Pro Tips

1. Free WiFi password is “balifree” — connects automatically. 2. ATM with lowest fee is BCA (Rp 25K vs Mandiri Rp 30K). 3. Best SIM kiosk: Telkomsel Halo at far end of arrival hall — Rp 100K for 25GB. 4. Quick Smart shower: Wellness Spa Lounge T2 — Rp 200K. 5. Lost luggage office is on baggage belt 4 right side. 6. The free luggage trolleys are unlimited — grab one even for short walks.
