How Hotel Transfer Pricing Works — One Fixed Fare Per Zone

There is no single “hotel transfer” price in Bali, because the fare follows distance, not the name over the lobby. We group South Bali into price zones and quote one fixed rate per vehicle for each — agreed on WhatsApp before you fly, and unchanged by traffic, time of day, or a late-night landing. A five-star resort and a small guesthouse in the same zone pay the same car fare; what you are really buying is the drive from I Gusti Ngurah Rai (DPS) to the door, with the toll, parking, a nameboard meet and bottled water already inside the number.

For comparison, a metered Grab or Bluebird taxi to the closer zones runs about IDR 150,000–300,000, stretching toward IDR 400,000 for Canggu or Ubud, and the airport’s fixed taxi counter sits near the top of each band. Every Vehicle, One Rate Ladder

Each zone has the same five-vehicle ladder; only the base number moves with distance. The fares below are for the nearest zones (Kuta and Legian) — a family of four fits the Innova, six travellers or extra luggage suit the Staria, and couples marking an occasion sometimes take the Alphard or a Mercedes.

Where Your Hotel Sits — The Main Bali Arrival Areas

Most airport arrivals head to one of a handful of areas, each a short-to-medium run from DPS on the island’s south. Kuta, Legian and Seminyak line the west coast minutes from the terminal — the closest and cheapest zones. Jimbaran and Uluwatu sit on the Bukit peninsula to the south, cliff resorts and beach clubs a little further out. Nusa Dua and Tanjung Benoa reach east across the Bali Mandara sea toll, the gated resort enclave. Sanur is the calm east-coast strip and the harbour for the Nusa islands, while Canggu and Ubud lie north — Canggu’s surf-and-café belt about 45 minutes on, Ubud’s rice-terrace hills a full 60–105 minutes inland.

Knowing the zone matters because it sets both the fare and how early to leave for your flight home. A Kuta hotel is a 15-minute hop; an Ubud villa needs a three-hour head start before an international departure. Whichever it is, the price is locked in your confirmation and the drive is door to door.

Door-to-Door — Any Hotel, Resort or Private Villa

We drop you at the address on your booking, not at a shared depot or a roadside pin. For a big resort that means your driver takes you to the correct lobby — many estates have more than one arrival point — where the bell staff meet the car. For a private villa it means the villa gate, down the narrow lanes of Canggu, Seminyak or Umalas where a ride-hail app often strands guests a few hundred metres short with their luggage. Send the villa’s pin or the resort wing on WhatsApp and the driver has it before you land.

This is the practical case for a prebooked private car over a metered taxi or Grab. A Grab pin frequently lands at an outer gate or a similarly named neighbour; a metered taxi can decline a fully loaded family; and neither waits inside arrivals with your name on a board. With a fixed booking the right vehicle is already sized to your group and holding at the exit under your name — the difference between a smooth landing and a tired negotiation at the kerb. Hotel Shuttle vs Private Transfer — The Honest Version

Plenty of guests search for a “Bali hotel with airport shuttle,” expecting a free ride. In practice, few Bali hotels include an airport shuttle in the room rate. Some resorts offer a paid transfer through their concierge — usually priced at or above a private car and quietly outsourced to a local operator like us — and a handful run a shared shuttle on a fixed timetable, which means waiting for other guests and a longer, multi-stop drive. A dedicated private transfer skips the wait: one car, your group, straight to your door, at a fixed fare you can see before you book. If your hotel does include a complimentary pickup, take it; if not, a private car is almost always the faster, clearer choice, and it costs the same whether you book it or the front desk does.
